colleen + kyle

07.19.08 | atlanta, georgia
ceremony: cathedral of christ the king
reception: the biltmore

i don’t believe there could be anything finer for two notre dame grads – and architects – than having a traditional catholic wedding ceremony (capped by the minister and wedding party assembling to sing “notre dame our mother”) in such a magnificent french gothic cathedral as christ the king, followed by a reception at one of the most exquisite historic landmarks in all of atlanta! wow – what impeccable taste! the events of the day were carried out smoothly and effortlessly, overseen by alyssa and katy, the fun, energetic duo comprising sashay creative events (sashayevents.com). thank you, colleen & kyle, for allowing us to photograph your wedding day!

colleen & kyle danced their first dance to "your song" (the moulin rouge version), and let me just say that it was quite entertaining!

art & i both commented this was the first time we’d ever seen a fudge-frosted wedding (bride’s) cake…now, that’s our kind of cake! we quickly discovered we couldn’t get within a 5-foot radius of it without salivating, though!

the bride’s niece – and flower girl – celebrated her 4th birthday yesterday. colleen surprised her at the reception, presenting amelia with her very own birthday cake. both amelia’s cake and the wedding cake were created by eileen carter a.k.a. “the cake lady” (eileenmcarter@yahoo.com).

this is by far my most favorite send-off photo! i especially like how colleen’s & kyle’s shadows tower over everyone, even extending beyond the tops of the pillars. the flow of the photograph from bottom to top is seamless. nice work, art!

we're going to be published!

several weeks ago one of the publishers from the knot georgia contacted us, requesting to see more photos from kimberly & nick’s wedding on may 25th at brumby hall and gardens in marietta. she’d been looking at our blog, and that particular wedding caught her attention. we obliged, and shortly thereafter she emailed us, informing us that kimberly & nick’s wedding had been chosen for a “just married” story in the 2009 spring/summer issue of the knot georgia. this will be the 2nd time our work has been published in that particular magazine (the excerpt below is from the spring/summer 2006 issue), and we are honored (not to mention thrilled!)! so, be on the lookout for the 2009 spring/summer issue of the knot georgia when it hits stands at the end of this year, and also check out a more in-depth version of kimberly & nick’s story on theknot.com, which will be posted at the time of the magazine’s release.

meghan + ryan

07.12.08 | atlanta, georgia
ceremony: holy spirit catholic church
reception: the biltmore

yesterday’s wedding was great fun! we started at the georgia tech hotel & conference center, where we took photos of the bride & groom getting dressed and ready to go, and then we rode the limo bus with the ladies to the church for the ceremony. it was a gorgeous day, albeit hot…but at least it didn’t rain! meghan & ryan had many family members come from out of state to attend the wedding, including her grandparents who came from seattle. art & I enjoyed chatting with them about our home state and the wedding we’ll be photographing there in september. meghan & ryan, it was a joy working with you and all your friends and family! thank you, and congratulations! (stay tuned for more photos from the biltmore – we’ll be there again this saturday!)

prior to the bouquet toss, meghan passed out mouth guards to all the single ladies - apparently she lost a couple teeth while catching the bouquet at her cousin’s wedding a while back...ouch!

pamela + rob

07.05.08 | marietta, georgia
ceremony: due west united methodist church
reception: marietta country club

until saturday, it had been a few years since we’d been to the marietta country club, and then it was in the midst of a renovation – it was nice then, but now it looks fabulous! pamela & rob chose an atlanta band – loose chain – to play at their reception. we’ve heard many live bands over the years, but this particular one is the first we’d actually recommend – they were phenomenal! for more info, you can find them at eastcoastentertainment.com. as you can see, the groom is a captain in the army (a green beret, no less), and upon their return from a honeymoon in st. lucia, the couple will be stationed in tennessee. rob, we thank you and commend you for your selfless service to our country, and we wish you and pamela all the best in the years to come!
